Interactive Curve Tool:

  • Speed Improvement: Sculpt, Add, Drag-Cut, Move

Sculpt

  • [NEW] - Ability to lock a certain amount of CVs from roots so sculpting/smoothing is not affected on those CV points.

  • [NEW] Now also compatible with GS Tube. Shift +MMB will also work with orientation, and Control + MMB will work with its X and Z scale values.

  • [NEW] - A toggle for hiding strand geometry while dragging is added for Hair Strand Builders. The underlying Maya deformer Hair Strand Builder uses re-evaluate geometries so previously the sculpting is slow. This is a work-around to temporarily bypass that. This can dramatically increase the speed of Hair Strands feedback.

  • [FIX] - Minor UI error mute.

Add

  • [NEW] - Drag to continuously adding curves

  • [NEW] - Scatter mode, with distance interval, density controls

Drag-Cut

  • [FIX] - A bug where reversed cut and radius influence are both one, un-affected curves would have reversed CV indices.

Curve Extract Tool (Tube):

  • [NEW] - Scatter Fill - randomly scatters curves within the volume of selected tubes. Less regular pattern as seen from Volume Fill option

  • [IMPROVE] - Adjustable UI

  • [FIX] - Repeat last step (G), was broken after refactoring from V15.03.06. Now it’s fixed.

Curve Clump/Repel:

  • [NEW] - Ability to ‘pair’ curves, with a sorting by name feature. This is for when there are two sets of curves and you wish to snap from one set to another.

Curve Fill Tool:

  • [NEW] - Fully re-worked logic for Tube fashion creations. Simplified clicks, just select curves, or group (with curve in it) and click on create center curve.

  • [NEW] - Scatter to replace the old layer fill option, this gives a more evenly spaced out pattern of filled curves.

  • [IMPROVE] - Adjustable UI

Curve Trim Tool:

  • [IMPROVE] - 2-3x faster.

  • No longer the need to set pre-sample density. The tool will now automatically determine it.

Curve Snap Tool:

  • [IMPROVE] - Limit to Shortest Checkbox will now reflect the shortest length values in the slider’s max value.

  • [IMPROVE] - Added the Retain Root Snap Curvature function from our Sculpt tool.

Hair Strand Builders:

  • [NEW] - In Curve Mode, selecting a strand curve will now have an option to highlight the wireframe of the strand geometry -> turn this option on in Scene Presets -> On Select-> Color Wireframe On Select. Adjust the wire frame color as needed. When on, you can not select the strand geometries while in Curve Mode from the outliner.

  • [IMPROVE] - Library items saved before 15.03 (V14) when imported, will go through an automatic update to the current version. It’s better if you can re-save it back to your library after it’s updated.

  • [IMPROVE] - Sometimes if the profile curves (root/tip/mid) and aim curves are templated (shows as grey in the Strand Editor), you can now reset them by going to the Toggle Button -> Reset Visibility. Or middle click on the Toggle Button.

  • [IMPROVE] - Card: added the Scale X and Scale Z attribute. Scale Z will only see the effect when you have 3 or more none-flat CVs on profiles.

  • [IMPROVE] - Tube: Creating UVs when multiple strands are selected is now possible. On creation, the UV Type will automatically set to ‘Strip’.

  • [IMPROVE] - Helper Curves:

    • Select few strands -> Deformers -> Create Helper Curve will now automatically link the helper curve to selected strands.

    • Helper Curve will now create at the center of selected strands.

    • If a helper curve or a lattice deformer are found on selected strands, the Path Spans slider will now be locked to prevent editing error on deformers.

    • When done, bake it with Helper Curve -> Bake

  • [FIX] - Extract Selected Strands button now will unlock the transformation limit so you can select and move again.

  • [FIX] - On scene open, mainUI will now refresh accordingly

  • [FIX] - Setting Path Spans count directly in the field box on the Strand Editor will now retain the Geo/Curve mode.

  • [Bonus Feature] Facet Helpers - helpers allowing you to make XGen Tube Groom compatible tubes from facets and curves.

    • Facets to Tubes - Ability to create strand tubes from facets (1 face planer geometry).

    • World Profile/Default Profile - Ability to view tube profile distribution with World Profile Mode.

    • Pair up with the clump/repel tool to clump/snap new strands to existing curves.

    • Split - existing tube strands - good for when a profile shape is covering too big of an area.

    • Caveats:

      • Reqyures strand to be in Auto normal mode.

      • First node on Scale Ramp needs to be (0.0, 0.5),

      • First node on Twist Ramp needs to be (0.0, 0.0).

      • Not a blocker but good to know: if there’s any Offset X/Z or Offset Rotation values, the flatten look can look wanky.

    • Splitting can sometimes cause certain tube’s normal to be ‘flipped’, adjust the Split Count and the Relax Iter and try again.

XGen Deep Backup

  • [IMPROVE] - Safe Guards on roll back added. Deep Backup requires a proper Maya Project to be created/set to work. On Roll Back, it will now make sure it has the required folders/files.

  • [FIX] - Fixed an issue with 3dPaintTextures not being carried back during Roll Back
