# Hair Strand Builders

**Overview**

In addition to our initial Curve To Proxy Managers (layer based), a strand based builder are now available in both **Tube** and **Card**. These new builders allows more advanced and up to date tools. As of V15.04.01, both tools have its own icon on the Main UI.

Before we start, the strand builders requires TWO things to be set.

1. **Component tags to be used for deformation.**\
   Please go to Preferences -> Settings -> Animation and ensure that you turn on **both**:

* Use component tags for deformation component sublets
* Create component tags on deformer creation&#x20;

2. **The 'lookdevKit.mll' plug in need to be turned on in the Plug-in Manager (Windows > Settings/Preferences ). This is automated in V15.02.12 +**
