V14.02
XGen Guide Snap To Curve:
Guides and curves will need to have the same amount of CV counts in order to snap to each other. A rebuild slider is added to the UI, and an ‘Auto Rebuild’ check box is also added, with default on, to streamline this process.
You can now snap multiple XGen guides to another XGen guide or a Maya curve.
Maya Curve Clump:
Re-wrote the clumping script, the UI is more intuitive with just a simple root/tip ramp curve.
Selected Maya curves will need to have the same amount of CV counts in order to clump to each other. A rebuild slider is added to the UI, and an ‘Auto Rebuild’ check box is also added, with default on, to streamline this process.
Maya Curve Tool Kit (Old Curve Manipulator)
The curve tool kit is now a dockable UI that includes many simple curve manipulation tools.
Improved curve CVs selection functions. Before, you can not make selections to other CVs and can only use the buttons on the UI to move back and forth with cv selections. Now, when using the first/last function, the selected curves will now turn into component mode. This will allow you to manually select CVs or use the buttons interchangeably.
Selection groups: When using Next/Previous buttons, the number of selected CVs is retained. For example, selecting CV 7 & 8 and clicking Next will now select CV 8 & 9.
Maya Curve Copy/Paste:
Redesigned UI and workflow.
"With Orientation" mode: Added a pre-paste proximity check to prevent target curves from distorting. If curves are not within a 0.1 threshold, the shape will not be pasted.
Maya Poly Resolve:
Now supports resolving cards into curve-extractable geometries.
Two modes available:
UV – Requires Straight vertical UVs (Ideal for models exported from software like Vroid or Dag Studio with straight UVs).
Remesh/Topology – Does not require UVs; utilizes topological information to process and extractable cards.
Maya Curve Extract:
Added the ability to use the repeat key (‘G’) for last extraction settings.
Clicking undo on your keyboard (Ctrl + Z) should now clean up the residues during the extraction procedure properly.
Improved UI readability
To accommodate better with the new card resolving card, center curves extracted will be put into a single group
Interactive Curve Tool:
Fixed an issue where Maya curve colors would disappear after using the sculpting tool.
Affected are the curves that use the Hair Tube Builder, Maya Curve Color Tool, or Proxy To Tube/Card Managers.
Maya PFX To Curve Tool
- Painting
Maya bug workaround: To prevent crashes in auto convert mode, users must now ‘Create PFX UV’ on the selected mesh before painting.
Recommendation: Duplicate the target geometry and apply PFX UV to the duplicate.
Caution: Deleting, re-duplicating, and re-entering paint mode “may” still cause crashes.
Workflow improvements:
With PFX UV created, pressing repeat (‘G’ key) instantly re-enters the tool without manual re-selection.
New option menu allows switching between Paint Effect mode and Auto Convert to Curve mode.
Exposed ‘Paint At Depth’ parameter: this allows you to paint away from the base mesh.
Paint Effects Mode:
If unconverted Paint FX strokes exist when exiting, a prompt will appear to convert them to curves.
Strokes are now automatically converted when switching to Auto Convert to Curves Mode and when you paint the first stroke.
Auto Convert To Curves Mode:
Target length option added to set a predetermined curve length.
Show length option added to display drawn curve length.
Span slider added to ensure curves are automatically rebuilt to a set span.
- Rebuild Buttons
Fixed an issue where Average Curves caused curves to revert to previous lengths.
Added "Get Length" & "Set Length" functions:
"Get Length" retrieves the average length of selected curves.
"Set Length" applies the length to all selected curves.
Pivot to Root button removed – This is now done automatically on resulting curves.
- Volume Mesh/Snapping
When snapping curves to a volume mesh, users can now select groups instead of just curve nodes.
Removed "None" snapping curve type.
Removed Tip/Root radio selection buttons – Curves now always snap from their tips automatically.
- Deforming
Fixed an issue where Delete History/Reset Transform did not properly clean curve histories.
Maya Curve Rebuild Tool
Simplified UI and workflow. No more ‘Tag’ requirement
Users can now simply select curves and:
Drag the slider, or
Manually input a value in the value field to preview the rebuild.
Important: The rebuild operation only applies after clicking the ‘Rebuild’ button.
Maya Curve Color Tool
Added CVs/EPs toggle button for improved control.
Isolation mode restrictions: Renaming and deleting layers are now disabled in isolation mode.
Fix an issue when creating layers in isolation mode causing the selected layers to lose highlight.
Selected curves will now remain selected when moving to another layer.
Layer Rename UI - You can now simply press ‘Enter’ on your keyboard in the renaming UI to confirm the re-naming.
Default color randomness is now set to 60.
Hair Tube Builder:
Added ‘Ramp’ Shader as a shader preview option.
Added ability to apply PFX outline directly onto strands.
Path Curve CVs is now renamed to Path Spans to properly reflect the parameter.
The path curve will have its CVs displayed when dragging on the Path Spans slider.
Fixed an issue on Preset Deletion UI not opening when Strand Editor is first opened.
Fixed an issue where in isolation mode, Renaming/Deleting layers were still allowed. This is now disabled in isolation mode.
Fixed an issue when creating layers in isolation mode, the layers would lose highlight.
Fixed an issue when in isolation mode, layer right click functions were disabled. Now it’s available (except renaming and deleting layers).
Isolation layer highlights should now be properly displayed.
Fixed a minor error message that shows up when toggling on the lock/unlock button when no strands are in the layer.
Fixed an issue where aim, root, and tip curve colors are not properly displayed when moving to another layer.
When creating a new layer, the shader type to that layer will now be the same as the current shader type used in other layers.
Changed the darker buttons back to Maya default color for better readability.
Layer Rename UI - You can now simply press ‘Enter’ on your keyboard in the renaming UI to confirm the re-naming.
XGen IFF Tool:
Clicking on paint will maintain its previous settings.
Main UI:
Documents will now direct to our new document page on gitbook.
