Permission Error

PermissionError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2022\\scripts\\xgtc\\xgTools_user.py'

Cause: This happens because your current user account does not have sufficient permissions to read, write, or modify the xgtc folder inside Maya’s installation directory.

Solution:

1. Navigate to the xgtc folder inside Maya’s installation scripts directory:

   C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2022\scripts\xgtc

2. Right-click the folder → Properties.

3. Go to the Security tab → click Edit.

4. Under Group or user names, select Users (or your current account) and turn on Full Control.

5. Apply the changes and close the dialog.

6. Restart Maya and try launching Groomer’s Tool again.

Tip:

• On some systems, you may need administrator privileges to change permissions inside C:\Program Files.

• If possible, installing or copying xgtc to your user scripts folder (Documents\maya\<version>\scripts) can avoid permission issues.
