# XGen Workflow

XGen provides limited options for editing guides directly. By working with curves instead, you can take full advantage of Groomer’s Tool’s Maya-based tools, including Interactive Curve Tools, Clump/Repel, Cut, Trim, Fill, and more.

After converting color layer curves to XGen guides, use [Multi-Clump Bake](/maya-groomers-tool/xgen-tools/multi-clump-bake.md) to re-bake your clump maps all at once for faster iteration.

It's best to address XGen warnings as much as you can before using the [Multi-Clump Bake](/maya-groomers-tool/xgen-tools/multi-clump-bake.md), to avoid the "XGen Clumping Zeroing a pixel in map" messages hanging your machine.
