# Retaining UVs

## Retaining UVs

* An **automatic UV retaining** system has been implemented. Now, whenever you move or scale a UV of a tube, its position will be **baked and remembered.** With this, adjustments like changing **subdivision**, adding/removing **mid curves**, or modifying **strand shapes** won't destroy your carefully laid-out UVs.

* #### Important Notes for UV retaining to Work:
 * UVs must be set to either **Stripe** or **Grid** mode.
 * At the moment UV retaining does not support rotation.

{% hint style="warning" %}
UVs must be **vertical** (UV top = root, UV bottom = tip) at the moment and supports moving and scaling. Rotation is not supported yet.
{% endhint %}

When the UV is vertical (default stripe or grid type UV), and when it's moved, or scaled, changing the shape type, or subdivisions on the tube strand will then retains the UV.
